Veronica Cervera, president of Miami-based Cervera Real Estate, which specializes in condos on Brickell, downtown Miami, Miami Beach and Key Biscayne, said she has seen a surge in international buyers including those from Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Greece and even China. Many are buying vacation homes, she said.
Upscale condo tower finished amid meltdown 57% sold
The Omni area’s Marquis Residences is close to 60% sold – a significant milestone for an upscale condo tower delivered amidst Miami’s residential market meltdown. Unlike most new high-rise condos in Miami’s urban core that are selling mainly to international investors, many of Marquis’s buyers are end-users, including locals and a handful of celebrities. The 292-unit tower at 1100 Biscayne Blvd. has sold 167 condos, representing about 57% of its inventory.
South Florida home, condo sales begin 2011 with a surge
South Florida saw existing home sales hit stride in January, with more than 2,500 condos sold in the month. But the sales surge—the largest since 2005—came amid still-drooping prices.

Real estate icon Cervera expands into Broward, Palm Beach
Miami-based Cervera Real Estate, a leading broker of South Florida luxury condominium residences for more than 40 years, has added five offices – expanding into Broward and Palm Beach counties for the first time. The new offices include two in Miami and one each in South Beach, Hallandale and West Palm Beach. According to the company, the expansion is part of a multimillion-dollar investment that also doubles its sales team to more than 250 agents.
